Online Japanese lessons
Your online Japanese tutor
Hanabuddies is a small team of native Japanese tutors teaching online, one-to-one or in small groups. Every lesson is planned around why you’re learning, whether that’s the JLPT, a move to Japan, work, or simply speaking with confidence. Your first 15 minutes are a free trial.

Why learners choose Hanabuddies
Tutor marketplaces are a good way to browse many teachers. Hanabuddies works differently: you learn with one small team who plan your lessons, keep track of your progress, and stay with you from beginner to advanced.
- Native Japanese tutors who know both Japanese and English-speaking cultures.
- A plan, not just a lesson. Your tutor sets goals with you and adjusts as you improve.
- More than lessons. The same team offers Japanese–English translation and coaching for jobs in Japan, so we can help with your résumé and interviews when you’re ready.
- Direct contact. You talk to us directly, with no platform in between.
Questions
What do I need for an online lesson?
A computer, tablet or phone with a camera and microphone, and a stable internet connection. Headphones help you hear clearly.
Can I learn Japanese online from outside Japan?
Yes. Lessons are online, so you can learn from anywhere. Tell us your time zone and we’ll find times that work.
How often should I take lessons?
Most learners do one or two lessons a week, with short daily review in between. Your tutor will suggest a pace that fits your goal and schedule.
Are group lessons a good option?
Group lessons cost less per person and are fun with friends or colleagues at a similar level. Private lessons move faster and focus entirely on you.
